The sport lovers have different possibilities: they can go surfing, snorkeling, diving, rafting and then kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding on the beach or inland, mountain biking, or make quad excursions.

Alternatively one can lay on one of the wonderful tropical beaches and enjoy the warm sun, observing the motion of the tides or wander into the vegetation along the sea and observe nature in an explosion of life.

Be amazed by the colors of plants and flowers or the dreary scenery where mangroves grows, listen to the mighty voice of the small monkeys or the song of multicolored birds populating the coast: Ibis, lapas, loras, chirincoca and hundreds of others: Birdwaching is one of the primary activities of the area, second only to the sighting of humpback whales who attend the coast twice a year with a peak in the period from August to October.

In addition to the Marino Ballena National Park, within a short distance from Uvita, there are the Cerro Chirripò National Park (70km) with heights of up to 3500 meters, Manuel Antonio National Park (60km) or Corcovado (130km), the largest and by far the most wild park of Costa Rica.

About 40km from Uvita there is Finca 6, one of the most important archaeological sites in the area: here you can find the spheres made by the indigenous people in the pre-Columbian period (UNESCO heritage).

If, however, you want to deepen the knowledge and lifestyle of the Ticos, you just have to visit one of the many local farms or take a guided tour of the pueblo to meet a lifestyle that is definitely different from what you are used to.

If you want more, there is Boruca, a village where the Indians of the region continue living preserving traditions and rites of their ancestors.
